5S Challenge – October Winners

ASSENT STEEL’s 5S Challenge, as part of its ongoing LEAN journey, awarded its 2nd team winners this October. With 30 teams participating, all named after Superheroes, TEAM BATMAN (MAINTENANCE) came up at the top of the table with 171.46 points!

The ASSENT STEEL 5S Challenge will run until the end of November 2023 and has awarded monthly winners a substantial cash prize.

15 Evaluating teams made up of 5 evaluators per team from different areas and functions go through assigned areas weekly to assess the areas of the participating teams.

Additional prizes were also given for -

TEAM STARLORD – MPS 3 for having the biggest improvement for the full October!

Mohammed Jaseem (Band Saw Operator), Battulu Pukkala Gurumurty (Welder), and Murugesh Sakhthivel (Stacking Operator) have been awarded the Innovation Prize for their idea in Handrail sliding gig that is designed to slide the handrail posts easily into position and holding with stopper at required spacing as per drawings for easy and secure installation.

The sliding mechanism ensures precise alignment, reducing the risk of errors during installation. By simplifying the installation process and minimizing the need for specialized tools or labor, this innovation can result in substantial cost savings for ASSENT STEEL.

The objective of the 5S Challenge is to ensure that the working environment is perfectly organized to promote continuous improvement, working conditions, and optimal performance.
