Summer Safety Starts with You: Learn to recognize and prevent heat stress. Together, we can beat the heat!

This week we kicked off our Summer Working Campaign.

As we enter the summer months and feel the temperature rising, the prevention of heat stress is very important and throughout the next few months, there will be an increased focus on the safety and well-being of everyone at ASSENT STEEL to be alert, as well as the prevention of heat stress incidents.

Our focus will include activities such as daily Toolbox Talks on heat stress safety, heat stress-related emergency drills, and educational materials for our supervisors and workers, which include various responsibilities needed to prevent and remedy illnesses caused by high temperatures and close monitoring of personnel to identify the onset of any heat stress symptoms.

Over the past few weeks, a substantial amount of work has gone into ensuring that we are prepared to continue our operations safely throughout the summer season. These preparations include the provision of cool rooms (with some work still ongoing), cool water and oral rehydration and salt drinks, cooling fans and A/C units, shaded work areas, and heat stress training for all yard and site personnel.
