Safety Campaigns
ASSENT STEEL is a hub for Safety Campaigns as we regularly conduct various safety campaigns for our workforce to spread awareness about safe working practices and to build a strong safety culture.
Safety campaigns remind workers to follow safety guidelines and principles to avoid hazards and create an accident-free environment.
Our Lifting Campaign raises awareness and calls to action on lifting-related issues and risks to our workforce. This initiative reinforces our aim for ZERO harm, and everyone goes home safely.
Hand Injury Prevention Campaign aims to raise awareness through training and toolbox talks on suitable and appropriate PPE for hand protection, safe use of portable powered tools and equipment, machinery and machine guarding, and common causes of hand injuries - all of which contribute to the of prevention of hand and finger injuries.
The heat stress prevention safety campaign aims to raise awareness to protect our employees against the risk of heat-induced illnesses and injuries from the summer heat in the middle east.
Feedback from program participants indicated a high level of support and satisfaction. Results indicated a marked reduction in heat-related illness over a period.
Through these campaigns, we ensure that our workforce in the office, at the factory, and sites will be trained and participate in safety activities.
HSE Trainings
At ASSENT STEEL, we are committed to upskilling our workforce and making learning an everyday habit. We continuously train and equip our employees to help them perform their roles safely and at a high level to further build their confidence in the workplace.
HSE Trainings present a prime opportunity to expand the knowledge base of all our employees and give our employees a greater understanding of their responsibilities within their roles.
Throughout the year, several training sessions, both internal and external are scheduled for relevant ASSENT STEEL stakeholders to attend.
HSE Walkdowns (Management and Workforce)
At ASSENT STEEL, we WALK the TALK. ASSENT’s HSE Walk down is focused on the real experience of working every day. It’s designed to grow our safety culture and catch everyday unsafe practices that can compound over time to create serious risks for a whole group of our employees. Walkdowns are led by both management and workers to have a full 360° assessment and information on employee safety practices in our factory and sites.
Our walkdown starts with a briefing where the team performing the walk-around is made familiar with the workplace elements - the people, the process e.g., steel fabrication, the equipment, and the environment including its unique hazards, and its normal state of operation. During the walk, the team engages with the workforce, checks their respective workstations, identifies best practices, and unsafe practices, and provides them with safe alternatives and a means to understand why their practices are unsafe. After the walk, the information gathered is analyzed and the team makes plans to correct issues and communicate them to the wider group.
HSE Awards
We at ASSENT STEEL implemented the Supervisor HSE award on a quarterly basis among the supervisors for excellent contributions to improving safety culture through
- Conducting Daily Pre-task briefing
- Apart checklist any additional hazards find out and mark them on the pre-start briefing
- For reporting all minor and major injuries and implementing corrective action
- Achieve the supervisor target on HSE Engagement cards
- Weekly supervisor HSE checklist submission
- Maintaining general housekeeping, and access & egress
- Achieving the quality and production target without compromising safety.
Toolbox Talks and Daily Stand-Up Meetings
At ASSENT STEEL, Pre-Task Briefings and Toolbox Talks are part of our daily life.
In 2021, we conducted over 10,500 Pre-Task Briefings in our factory and over 3,000 Toolbox Talks across all our job sites.
Safety is not a poster on our walls, it is our way of conducting business and is at our core.
